Chris Loudon notes on Bryan Lynch show Ann married to an unknown Jones, based on a daughter Dorothy Jones still living in 1985. I believe Ann actually married Edward Mullaney, and daughter Dorothy married Stanford Alfred Jones. (The Mrs Mullang referred to in Bryan's obituaries is almost certainly Mrs Mullaney)

Note Chris Loudon also has Johanna as the Mrs Mullang, but I now know that Johanna was Mrs Horace Dannock (married 1921 in Victoria)

Need marriage or death certificate to remove all doubt. 1

Nsw Reg Gen Death Index No. 1985 Parents indexed as John and Julia Nsw Reg Gen Marriage Index No. 2151 Cooma Indexed as Bryant Lynch ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Newspaper - November 12, 1884 Bryan Lynch received 25% from the Bombala Sheep and Cattle Prevention Association on account of the one hundred pounds reward. The balance will be paid to him on the conviction of Casey. --------------------------------------------- Obit notice - Monaro Mercury - January 11, 1923 Records the death of Bryan Lynch, a former drover and stockman aged about 80. He once made a record journey from Adaminaby to Port Pirie (SA) with stock. In 1862 he took a mob of cattle from Bolairo (Messre Chippendale's) to Melbourne and returned by coach. He was on several Victorian and NSW goldfields. Was at Glenrowan during the activities of the Kelly gang. He remembered Cooma before the big goal was erected and had many reminiscences of early Cooma. He remembered prisoners being chained to a tree to prevent their escape during the building of the goal. He was born at Frying Pan, his father being John Lynch, who was also a stockman. Both his parents were natives of Tipperary, Ireland. Bryan once owned a portion of Dry Plain. In the absence of a priest the funeral service was read by Stan Dykes. Funeral arrangements were by JF Allen. He was a widower with 3 sons: Joseph of Berridale; Reginald of Sydney; and George of Cooma (Railway Dept.), and four daughters; Medames Jackson and Mullang of Sydney, and Jas McCann of Cooma and 2 sisters, Mesdames Watson and Pudney of Sydney. Small of stature, a character well known in town and district. Always ready to tell tales of the early days. He lived across the creek near the Nyjong Reserve for many years prior to his death. --------------------------------------------- Obituary, Cooma Express, Friday 26 January 1923 Mr Bryan Lynch As briefly mentioned in the last issue of "The Express" Mr Bryan Lynch died on Monday afternoon at the age of 83. By his death another link with the past has gone, for deceased, was always an authority on local lore, and his opinion was frequently sought to settle a question. He has been failing since his wife died, since when he was rarely in town. He passed away peacefully at the residence of Mr Jas McCann, and he was born at Frying Pan, near Adaminaby. The deceased was a son of the late Mr and Mrs John Lynch, who were natives of Tipperary (Ireland). Bryan Lynch followed various callings, and in his younger days was an expert stockman. Once he performed a record trip droving from Adaminaby to Port Pirie (SA). He is said to have been with the Chippendale brothers when they took stock from Bolero to Melbourne. Deceased could also relate of the stirring times of the gold rushes and worked on many of the diggings in this State and Victoria. In fact he was near Glenrowan when the Kelly gang were operating. The late Mr Lynch retained excellent memory till the last. He could tell of the early days of Cooma, before the gaol was built, and frequently spoke of how the prisoners were chained. The following family is ledt: Messrs Joseph (Berridale), George (Cooma), and Reg (Sydney) and Mesdames Mullang (Sydney), J McCann (Cooma), Dannock (Melbourne) and Jackson (Sydney). Mr William Lynch of Lambie Street, Cooma, is a brother, and there are two sisters also left, viz Mrs Watson (Petersham) and Mrs Padney (Sydney). There are 11 grandchildren. The funeral took place on the 23rd inst., and was well attended. In the absence of both priests (who are away on retreat) Mr Stan J Dykes read the service. The pall bearers were Messrs M McCarthy, Thos McManus, E Rolfe and A Povey. Mr Jas F Allen, of Cooma conducted the funeral arrangements. ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Obituary, Manero Mercury, Friday 26 January 1923 Death of Old Cooma Resident Mr Bryan Lynch, an old resident of Cooma, succumbed, at the residence of Mr J McCann, on Monday afternoon to an attack of pneumonia, at the advanced age of 83 years. The deceased, who was well known in the district, followed droving and was amongst the stock all his life. He once made a record journey from Adaminaby to Port Pirie, South Australia, with stock, and in 1862 took a mob of cattle for the Messrs Chippendale from Bolero, Adaminaby district, to Melbourne, returning by coach. His career was somewhat varied, he having been on numbers of goldfields in this State and Victoria. He was also in the Glenrowan district when the notorious Kelly gang of bushrangers were terrorising the country. His recollections of Cooma carry back to the period prior to the erection of the gaol, at which time prisoners were chained to tree stumps to prevent their escape, and he was well versed in the doings of the early days of Cooma. He was born at Frring Pan, near Adaminiby, and his father Mr John Lynch, was also a stockman, both his parents being natives of Tipperary, Ireland. The late Mr Brian Lynch owned a portion of the Dry Plain Station some years since. The funeral took place at the Mittagang Cemetery on Tuesday and was largely attended, the remains being followed by a number of relatives and friends. In the absence of the Dean and associated priest, the funeral service was conducted by Mr N Dykes. The bearers were Messrs J Rolfe, A Povey, T McManus and M McCarthy. Mr J F Allen had charge of the funeral arrangements. Deceased was a widower and he leaves three sons, Messrs Joseph (Berridale), George (Cooma) and Reginald Lynch (Sydney); and four daughters, Mesdames Jackson and Mullang of Sydney, McCann, Cooma and Dannock, Melbourne. One brother, Mr William Lynch of Cooma and two sisters Mesdames Watson of Petersham, and Pudney of Sydney, survive him. He also leaves eleven grandchildren. 18
