In letter to CR Loudon dated 5/2/1993 from St Patrick's Parish Cooma, reference to James McCarthy, advises that Church records show his name as William McCarthy - CRL records show James not William - could be he had both names ie James William McCarthy, or William James McCarthy and went by the name of James for some things & William for others eg. William in Church records. His wife referred to him as John, and his children as William, in various official records. NSW Death Registration ref # 1892/4903 of his daughter Julia DELANEY (McCARTHY) refers to him as William and his being a Farmer 29

(Father Edward) (Mother Bridget) ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- Obituary, Cooma Express, Monday 16 July 1928 Mrs William Lynch. There passed away on Tuesday last, 10th inst., at her late residence, Lambie Street, Cooma, Annie, relict of the late William Lynch, at the age of 73 years and 1 month. The old lady had been ailing for some considerable time, but the end came unexpectedly. She seemed to be bright and in her usual health on the Monday, but became ill in the afternoon and collapsed during the night, death occurring on Tuesday morning. She was the youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Edward Moore, of Coolrington, where deceased was born, and where she lived until her marriage to William Lynch, who predeceased her some two years since. They made their home at Dry Plain, and later at Rhine Falls. Eight years ago the Rhine Falls property was divided among the members of the family, the old couple coming to Coomato live. Their home, particularly at Rhine Falls, was always a favourite meeting place for friends from miles around, and many a tear will be shed for "Auntie" as Mrs Lynch was affectionately known to a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Her home life was very happy and the members of her family speak with deep affection of her unremitting motherly attention to them right to the last. Her kindness and charity, particularly in sickness will long be remembered by many. Deceased was a devoted member of the RC Church and very regular in her attendance. Rev Father O'Connor attended her in her final illness and administered the last rites of the church. She is survived by a brother, Cr Edward Moore, of Nimmitabel; a sister, Mrs J Burke, of Pendle Hill Sydney; four sons, Oswald and John of Rhine Falls, Norman of Chiverton Public School, near Cowra and Reginald of Cooma District School, two daughters, Mrs W Mould, Moss Vale, and Mrs J Freebody, Cooma; and 14 grandchildren. The remains were removed on Wednesday to St Patrick's Church, Cooma, and following a short service there by Rev Father McNeeve to Mittagang Cemetery, in the RC section of which they were laid to rest. Rev Father McNeeve officiated at the graveside, in the presence of a very large gathering of relatives and friends. Wreaths were noted from: Jack, Etti, and children; Norman, Muriel and Gerald; Ossie, Gladys and Keith, Jack, Aggie and family; Walter and Tap; Dick, Isabel, Reg, Willie and Heather; Mr and Mrs Jim Fitzgerald and family; John, Ruby and family; Mrs J A Johnson and family, Lambie Street; Ciss, Harry and family; Mr and Mrs E Reidy and family; Mrs J Perry and family; Mrs M Lloyd and family; Mr and Mrs Freebody and family; Amos and May; Mr s W J Brown and Katie; Percy and Vera Brown; Joan Utber; Jean and Eric Willis; Doris Love and girls of fifth and sixth classes; Pupils of Cooma District School; girls of third and fourth classes; Flo Hain and Maisie Angel. 1
