Buried Katoomba Cemetery, General Section 2 row H no. 10 - Age 46 ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Mountaineer, 15 July 1904 Sudden Death at Leura Michael Lynch, a resident of Leura died suddenly on Friday evening last at Leura. Deceased appeared to be in his usual health till about 5 pm, and while attending to some bee hives which had been blown down he was suddenly seized with pains in his back. He proceeded to the house and in a few minutes was unconscious and died within a short while. A magisterial inquiry was held at deceased's late residence on Saturday by the district coroner, Mr A Judges. Dr Spark, Government Medical officer gave evidence and the finding was in accordance with his testimony, "That the said Michael Lynch, at Leura on the 8th inst., died from natural causes, to wit, heart disease". Deceased was 46 years of age and up to the time of his death appeared to be in the best of health and spirits. 1,5

Nsw Reg Gen Birth Index No. Nsw Reg Gen Marriage Index No. 13661 ----------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Obituary, Cooma Manero Express, 9 December 1960 Mr Osborne Lynch The death occurred recently of one of the best known and liked residents of the Monero District, Mr Osborne "Ossie" Lynch at the age of 77 years. The late Mr Lynch was the eldest son of the late William and Annie Lynch pioneers of Monaro. When they retired from Dargan's Flat and Rhine Falls, the properties there were divided among their four sons and two daughters, with Ossie acquiring the Dargan's Flat portion, where he lived all his life. Later he obtained town properties in Lambie and Sharp Streets Cooma.

He married Gladys, daughter of the well known Venables family of the Cooma District. Of this union, there were two in the family, Dorothy (deceased) and Keith, who managed in conjunction with his father, the Dargan's Flat property.

Deceased in his younger days was a noted shearer and he later became a good judge of land and stock. During his life he became a Justice of the Peace, having served many years as a juror in the Cooma Courts. Deceased is survived by his widow Gladys, son Keith, on brother Norman of Bathurst, one sister Ettie (Mrs Freebody) of Lambie Street, Cooma, daughter in law Patricia and three grandchildren.

After a service at St Patrick's Church by Rev Ft H Byrne, interment took place in the Catholic portion of the Mittagang Cemetery, Cooma. The funeral was largely attended and many wreaths were placed on the grave. The pall bearers were Kevin Lynch, Ross Gilbert, Geoff Fraser and Ross Fraser.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by A McGregor of Cooma. 5

He quickly became very expert with the blades, being ringer at many a shed in the Monaro and in the Riverina. Selecting land at Rhine Falls, he settled down to grazing pursuits, and eventually added properties at Dry Plains and The Peak. About five years ago he retired, dividing his properties among the different members of his family, and has since resided in Lambie Street Cooma. He had been seriously ill for some time prior to his death, which was not unexpected. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Annie Moore, two daughters Mrs. J. Freebody, Cooma. And Mrs. W. Mould, Moss Vale; and four sons Osborne and John, Rhine Falls, Norman of Cambewarra West Public School, near Nowra, and Reginald Richard of the District School, Cooma. Deceased was a well-known and popular identity of Rhine Falls, where his home was looked upon as a meeting place by neighbours for miles around. His knowledge of stock and country was a very wide one and his opinion was often sought on such matters. As a father and husband he earned the respect and devotion of his family. William Lynch

Another of Monaro's pioneer sons passed over the great divide on Fridaynight, 27th inst., i n the person of William Lynch, of Lambie Street, Cooma, at the ripe age of 79 years 6months.

He was a son of the late James Lynch, and was born at Frying pan, nearCooma, on 21st May 184 6. His boyhood was no easy one, and at fifteen years of age he could shear hishundred sheep a day . He quickly became very expert with the blades, being ringer at many sheds on Monaroand in the Riverina.

Cooma Police Court - Monday 1 July 1872

William Lynch of Dry Plain was charged with having made use of threatening language to William Delaney whereby the latter felt intimidated and put in bodily fear. Mr Castle appeared for the complainant.

William Delaney deposed that he was afraid the defendant would molest him and do some personal injury. He wished the defendant to be bound over to keep the peace.

Defendant was bound over to keep the peace for 6 months; himself in twenty pounds with two sureties of ten pounds each. 1,5

Obit 7 Dec 1954: There passed away on Monday 29th November ult. at the home of his daughter Mrs Lorna Koppman, "Springfield" Nimmitabel, a well known and respected district grazier, Mr William John Lynch, of Dry Plain, Cooma, at the age of 68 years. Following service in St Patrick's RCChurch, Cooma, on Wednesday afternoon, the remains were laid to rest in the RC section of Mittagang Cemetary in the presence of a large gathering of mourners. Rev Fr. J. R. Ryan officiated at both church and graveside services. Deceased was a widower and leaves three sons and five daughters to mourn their loss.

Obit: Mr W J Lynch As already breifly recorded the death occurred on Monday 29th November ult. at the home o f his daughter Mrs Lorna Koppman "Springfield" Nimmitabel, of Mr Willian John (Jack) Lynch, of Dry Plain , Cooma, at the age of 68 years. Deceased was the second son of a pioneer couple of Monaro the lateWilliam and Annie Lynch of Rhine Falls. Except for some time spent in droving as a young man, the whole of his life was spent on Monaro. While his main interest was grazing, he was also the owner of several racehorses, which ran mainly on local circuits. He was an excellent bushman and was interested in mostsections of sport, and was a regular follower of football. He kept a happy outlook on life and will be remembered by many friends for his cheery manner and his ready sympathy and help for all in trouble or need. He Married Miss Agnes Perry, and she predeceased him some twelve yearssince. He is survived by four sons - John, Kevin, Colin, and Peter, five daughters - Mrs Don Edwards (Thelma), Marrickville, Mrs J Hurley (Norma), Lakemba, Mrs W Koppman (Lorna), "Springfield" Nimmitabel, Mrs N Burton (Marjorie), Inverell , and Miss Jean Lynch, Campsie, three brothers - Oswald, Rhine Falls, Norman,Bathurst, and Richard, Strathfield, two sisters - Mrs J Freebody (Ethel), Cooma, and Mrs W Mould, Moss Vale, and 25 grandchildren. The remains were removed to St Patrick's RC Church, Cooma, and following service there on Wednesday, 1st December, to Mittagang General Cemetery, in the RC section of which they were laid to rest in the presence of a large gathering of mourners. Rev. Fr. J B Ryan officiated at both the church and graveside services and Messrs. John, Kevin and Colin Lynch (sons) and Keith Lynch (nephew) were pall bearers.
